Introduction
In today’s digital era, the media has a very important role in disseminating information and shaping public opinion. However, with such great power comes the responsibility to ensure that the content disseminated complies with media ethics and applicable media regulations. In Indonesia, this issue is increasingly relevant as digital platforms proliferate and public interest in content creation increases. Telkom University’s S1 Digital Content Broadcasting study program comes as a solution to produce a generation of content creators who are not only skilled, but also understand the ethics and rules in the media industry.
This article will discuss the importance of media ethics and regulations, the challenges in digital content creation, and how Telkom University’s S1 Digital Content Broadcasting prepares its students to become professionals in this field.
Media Ethics: Moral Foundations of Content Creation

Media ethics are moral principles that govern how information should be presented to the public. In Indonesia, media ethics is particularly important as the media has a major influence in shaping people’s perceptions. Some key principles in media ethics include:
Accuracy: Ensuring that the information presented is correct and accountable.
Fairness: Providing space for all parties to express their opinions.
Privacy: Respecting the privacy rights of individuals.
Social Responsibility: Avoiding content that can cause conflict or harm society.
Telkom University’s S1 Digital Content Broadcasting study program emphasizes the importance of media ethics in its curriculum. Students are not only taught content creation techniques, but also how to produce content that is responsible and in accordance with social values.
Media Regulation: Rules of the Game in the Digital Content Industry

Apart from ethics, media regulation is also an important aspect that every content creator must understand. In Indonesia, media regulation is governed by various laws and institutions, such as:
- Broadcasting Law No. 32 of 2002: Regulates broadcasting in Indonesia.
- ITE Law No. 11 of 2008: Regulates electronic transactions and information.
- Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI): An organization that oversees broadcast content on television and radio.
The rules for creating digital content also include prohibitions on the spread of hoaxes, hate speech, and content that violates copyright. Telkom University’s Digital Content Broadcasting undergraduate students are equipped with an in-depth understanding of these regulations, so that they are ready to face challenges in the world of work.
Challenges in Digital Content Creation
Digital content creation in Indonesia faces several challenges, including:
- The rise of hoaxes: The spread of false information that can harm society.
- Plagiarism: Copyright infringement in content creation.
- Sensitive Content: Material that can cause conflict or violate social norms.
Telkom University’s S1 Digital Content Broadcasting study program provides solutions to these challenges through a comprehensive curriculum and supportive facilities. Students are taught to produce content that is creative, innovative, and in accordance with the rules of creating digital content.
